EU Critic's Choice Awards

We are sending our food critics out to Jacksonville's favorite local restaurants on the hunt for the best menu items in town. Who do you think has the best burrito? What about cheesecake? Lend us your expertise and nominate the items you believe to be the tastiest in town, and we'll send our critic's out to taste it and compare it to other nominees!


Let The Critics Decide

The EU Critic's Choice Awards are awarded to specific menu items that our food critic's determine, after thorough research, to be the superior version of that menu item in the greater Jacksonville area. Starting in February we will be sampling dishes at every locally-owned restaurant or chain in search of items in every category of cuisine. From the finest nan bread from a local Indian restaurant to the best sauce from a barbecue restaurant, we will taste and rate it all so that you can find the delicacies you are looking for without going all over town.

The EU Critic's Choice Awards are not a popularity contest and they are not for sale. EU is known for providing honest and unbiased critiques of bars, restaurants, bands, art, and all sorts of events. We are bringing this reputation to the cuisine of Jacksonville so that even a new restaurant or a virtually unknown eatery could get the credit they deserve for a superior dish.

Listed below are the items we are judging. Please nominate a restaurant that you are certain has the finest of any category, or nominate an item not on our list for the Critic's Choice Award. We are only human, we don't know about every place in town, so we rely on you to tell us about your favorite restaurant.

Remember, though, we are not interested in corporate chains (Chili's, McDonald's, etc.) just locally owned franchises and independent restaurants. Your nominations will be discredited if you enter a single restaurant for more than 10 items on our list. (Don't nominate mozzarella sticks that are received from Sysco and then dropped in a fryer, nominate items that the cooks are truly proud of.) Also please remember that once a restaurant has been nominated, we put it on the list of restaurants for our food critics to visit. Multiple nominations are not beneficial and just make us tired.

Thanks for helping us find those gems that you want to share with the town. It helps your favorite restaurant get the business they need to thrive, and it lets other people with your tastes get to enjoy it too! There isn't a better way to make friends.
