The Night of the
Iguana
March 28 to April 12
Within the broken down environs of a cheap Mexican Hotel, the human needs and
conflicts of a group of people thrown together by circumstance, become
explicit. Many of the characters and much of the plot is driven by the desire
for and the consequences of sexual relations. Alternately funny and
heartbreaking, Williams takes us into the moving, tormented heart of the human
condition and proposes that the spirit survives even beyond the limits of anguish.

THE TEMPEST
Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 7:30 pm
The Tempest by William Shakespeare presented by The Acting Studio. Lovers meet,
villainy is uncovered, and passions are unleashed in this magical story from
one of the world’s greatest playwrights. A mighty storm shipwrecks Queen Alonsa, Dutchess Antonia, and
their party on the shores of a mysterious island. There they are tempted by
spirits, teased by sprites, and tormented by monsters—all by the unseen hand of
Prospera, the woman they marooned and betrayed years
ago. Will Prospera inflict a horrible vengeance or
will she forgive the women who wronged her and her son? Find out how this
classic tale unfolds on the Lazzara stage as we
present The Tempest. The latest adaptation of Shakespeare’s work, considered
both a comedy and a romance by critics, is presented by The Acting Studio—New
York’s finest acting school, acclaimed with producing award winning talent and
considered the country’s “Home of the Serious Actor.”

Set in a Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the century, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys sets the tone for a touching love story. Sullivan’s THE MIKADO
Friday, April 4 - 7:30 p.m., MAINSTAGE
Tickets - $45 - $36 - $26
London's acclaimed Carl Rosa Opera Company returns to the THCA with this sparkling and lavish recreation of Gilbert & Sullivan's original 1885 Savoy production of The Mikado. As one of the Gilbert & Sullivan's most popular comic pieces, The Mikado delivers a satiric look at love triangles and political hypocrisy in the fairy-tale setting of ancient Japan. A production four years in the making, the Carl Rosa Opera Company used Gilbert's authenticated prompt book as its source for direction, staging, and choreography, and presents the original costumes, now restored to their full glory and recently seen on the screen in Mike Leigh's Oscar-winning film, Topsy-Turvy.
This production is guaranteed to delight your eyes and ears
- all while tickling your funny bone.

Based on the uplifting true story of the Von Trapp family, The Sound of Music tells the story of Maria, the spirited young woman who leaves the convent to become governess to the seven children of Captain von Trapp, an autocratic widower whose strict household rules leave no room for music or merriment. Through her youthfulness and zest for life she brings happiness and love to the von Trapp family. A timeless family classic which touches the hearts of all ages, the score brims over with some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage including My Favorite Things, Do Re Mi, Edelweiss, Climb Every Mountain, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, The Lonely Goatherd and of course the glorious title song The Sound of Music
