There are two things to us at EU that are more important than anything else. 1) Entertaining. We strive to entertain you with our writing, inform you about the local culture that is here to entertain and perform for you, and we try to inform you about every event coming to the River City to entertain you. 2) U. This is a rather corny way to let you know that you are the focus of our publication. We are here to entertain you, the reader. But it isn’t just your eyeballs and your need to be entertained that we adore, we also care about you, Jacksonville.
Forbes Magazine recently listed us in the top ten most obese cities in America. Doesn’t it seem like only a few years ago the same publication called J-ville one of the best places to live? Now it seems we’re all fat and getting murdered. Well this concerns us, because we live here and we hate being fat and murdered. There really isn’t much that an entertainment publication can do about murder, but what we can do is provide you more information about how you can improve your life in ought eight! Lose weight, get greener, redecorate your bachelor pad, feel and look better this year.
To this end we are addressing the many ways that you can make your life better. Not through dramatic, expensive and time-consuming endeavors, we know life is busy and complicated enough (we’re not even sure how you found the time to read this), but through simple, expertly advised little changes.
We are launching the A Better U in Ought Eight concept with this feature, wherein we talk about everything from running to grocery shopping to volunteering. We will continue this effort throughout the year with a weekly column titled A Better U, which will be written by local experts providing simple, easy to implement tips on making everyone’s life in Jacksonville a little better. This weekend, for instance, maybe a light bulb goes out at your house. Just think, if you walked to a locally owned market and purchased a CFL bulb, you would burn a few calories, reduce your carbon footprint and support your local economy. Now that’s a small simple way to A Better U. You’re getting it!
So in this issue and beyond, look for new ways to renew your life in EU. From a monthly column about redecorating your life to tips and pointers for nutrition, health, and getting greener, in ought eight, EU is all about U.
