protect your net

With all sorts of wireless transactions taking place these days, I wanted to know how I could protect my sensitive info. Joey Marchy was pleased to provide me with some simple tips.
      • Upgrade your web browser. You should not be using Internet Explorer 6. Upgrade Internet Explorer version to 7, or better yet download and install Firefox (mozilla.com/firefox) or Safari (apple.com/safari). Each of these browsers include enhanced security features older browsers don’t have.
      • Don’t buy things online with your debit/check card. Some companies like Visa will insure your debit card for online theft, but not all banks will. Use a major credit card when making online purchases.
      • If you have a wireless network at home, use a strong password. Seven to 10 characters with upper and lowercase letters and numbers, like h6ygTK3. Not your dog’s name. I know it’s hard to remember, but you want to protect your information right?
      • If you’re nervous about using your credit card to make an online purchase at Starbucks (using wifi), wait till you get home.
