Jacksonville Film Festival Venues

San Marco

Parking can be tricky in San Marco, since most of it is right on the strip and almost always is completely filled up. On the weekend you can sometimes find some spare parking in bank parking lots. Otherwise check out the church parking lot behind the church at Hendricks and Atlantic. A better option may be to park downtown, where weekend parking is plentiful, and take the trolley to San Marco and back.

San Marco Theatre
1996 San Marco Boulevard · 396-4845
On the beautiful San Marco strip at the corner of San Marco and Balls Place across from the fountain. This historic theatre is a Jacksonville treasure.

Theatre Jacksonville
2032 San Marco Boulevard · 396-4425
Just down toward Hendricks one block from the San Marco Theatre, this classic San Marco landmark is the home to plays and musicals, but for the film festival, they convert their luxurious theatre into an excellent movie house.

Downtown

Parking downtown on the weekends is usually fairly easy, although the festival is sure to crowd it up more than usual. There is parking next to Burrito Gallery at the corner of Main and Adams. After 6 pm on weekdays and all day during the weekend you can park for free at any meter. From the library and MOCA to Florida Theatre and TSI, once you are downtown everything is in walking distance and with the presence of the Downtown ambassadors and so many people, you can count on it being safe.

Florida Theatre
128 East Forsyth Street · 355-2787
This classic theatre is one of the most spectacular theatres you will ever see a movie in. Featuring elaborate balcony seating and an ornate auditorium, not to mention the full service bar in the lobby, if you haven't seen a movie here, get ready. You'll get addicted to it.

Jacksonville Public Library
303 North Laura Street · 630-1212 ext 4043
Overlooking Hemming Plaza in the middle of downtown, the new library is a spectacle to behold. They are showing films in their auditorium. Just ask the people at the door and they will gladly direct you. This is also the headquarters of the festival, so you can get answers to all of your film fest questions directly from a volunteer or organizer.

MOCA Jacksonville
333 North Laura Street · 366-6911
Formerly JaMoMA, the Museum of Contemporary Art is hosting many of this year's workshops. MOCA is located right next to the library on Hemming Plaza. This is also the home of Café Nola (read the restaurant review on page 27), so cool off in their AC, check out the gift shop, or just jump in for a bite to eat. The museum also has some terrific exhibits currently on display, so peruse the walls between films.
