Joe Francis’ attorney Aaron Dyer said Monday that a U.S. magistrate judge had issued an order permitting the Girls Gone Wild guru to be released on $1.5 million bail after almost one month in federal custody on tax evasion charges. However, as a condition of posting bail, Francis was first required to sort out the terms of his freedom with Florida authorities, as he is wanted in the Sunshine State for charges that include videotaping underage girls in sexual situations and smuggling contraband into jail. NBC’s reality series starring Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) may be cropped down into a primetime special, per the Hollywood Reporter. The project was originally planned as a six-episode series, following the Beckham family’s relocation to Los Angeles, where David Beckham will play for the Galaxy soccer team. Published reports have suggested the erstwhile Posh Spice threw the series into jeopardy by remaining in Europe to watch her husband make his triumphant return to England’s national soccer team.
American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee will make her feature film debut in the indie dark romantic comedy The Last Caller, per the Hollywood Reporter. The aspiring actress said that she was “up for a couple of big studio projects,” but that the low-budget film was the first script she read that she really wanted to do. The role does not call for any singing.
