Pac-Man Championship Edition
For Xbox 360

So maybe you bought Pac-Man and/or Ms. Pac-Man for Xbox 360 over Xbox live, but now you feel a little bummed because you were hoping to get something more, aside from the achievements and the neat-o side panel art. Well, this week Microsoft is giving you a hell of an upgrade. Pac-Man Championship Edition is ready for download as of this week, so if you like to play Pac-Man games, you owe it to yourself to take a look at this game. Taking the core gameplay from the original game, and adding an innovative map system and lighting effects, Pac-Man CE plays like a dream. There are several interesting modes to choose from, including a mode where the entire level is dim, and you chase ghosts around in the dark, with only the edible dots lighting the way. Overall, Pac-Man Championship Edition is a great game for Pac-Man fans. If you don’t feel like paying 800 MS points for it, try the Demo first.

Surf’s Up
For PS2 (Also available for PS3, PSP, Nintendo DS, Gameboy Advance, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii)

I like Surf’s Up for what it is. The developers of this game didn’t go the tired route of making an action platformer of an animated kid’s movie. Instead, they made a surfing game based on the theme of the movie, and this is a good thing. While not overly complicated, Surf’s Up will definitely play well among it’s targeted demographic. The basic-but-fun gameplay consists of your selected character riding a wave through a course littered with obstacles. You can perform tricks off the lip of the wave, and you can also interact with items on the course, such as sliding along a fallen tree. Each level is opened up with an animated clip either from, or based on, the movie, which is entertaining to watch. While older kids might not get so into Surf’s Up, if your kid likes to play video games and is into the movie, this game should be worth checking out.
