2KSports’ All Pro Football 2k8
for Xbox 360

Since EA Games has cleverly prevented other publishers from producing NFL games with the use of massive amounts of cash in an exclusivity deal, the people at 2k games had to get crafty. Since they already make some of the best American football games around, they needed a way to sell a new game without the NFL license. Well, they finally did that. All Pro Football 2k8 features TONS of former NFL legends, the only difference being the team they play for. Yes, you can take your team to the championship match, but you won’t be taking them to the Super Bowl. But who cares? You’ve got Mike Ditka.

Guilty Gear: ^ Core
(AKA Guilty Gear: Accent Core) Japanese Import for PS2

I don’t usually take the time to review import games. They can be a pain to get to play on US game consoles and, most of the time, they don’t have any options to change the text to English. With Guilty Gear: Accent Core, I didn’t really have to worry about that. Almost every bit of text you see in the game is written in English, and the only actual Japanese you see/hear is in one character’s name and in the dialogue that characters speak.

Accent Core is the latest edition of the 1-on-1 Guilty Gear fighting game series. This game is insanely popular among fighting game fans, with its fast twitch-style gameplay and precise control methods. In Accent Core, the game plays just like its predecessor, Guilty Gear XX Slash. You can dash, by pressing forward twice, anywhere on the playing field, and just about every character can double-jump. The attack buttons include light kick, hard kick, slash, hard slash and dust. With the dust button you are given the chance to knock your opponent into the air to start a large combo of attacks. In addition to these functions, there are plenty of special techniques and defensive moves to learn.

Graphically, Accent Core is the same type of 2D illustrated masterpiece its predecessors have been. All characters have been drawn in large sizes, and when the screen is zoomed all the way in on them, you can really see how great they look. The characters themselves are outlandish, absurd and totally loveable. From the possessed dead body fighter to the heavy-metal-guitarist-witch-stripper, there is plenty to keep you entertained. Accent core is a must-play for fighting game fans- plenty of balance and plenty of gameplay mechanics to learn and master. Don’t miss this one!
