<< Seafood Dining Guide | Main | Kingfish Tournament >>

Every part of the world has that portion of its culture that is determined by its own specific geography. In Virginia and Tennessee they have mountain cultures, in New York and Chicago they have city cultures, In California they have ocean culture, in Hawaii I imagine they have volcanoe culture; in Jacksonville, we have our aquatic culture. We love to swim in the ocean, boat in the river, fish off our bridges, and canoe down our creeks. From the Atlantic Ocean to the St. Johns River, we cannot help but be defined by our affinity for water.

Head out to the St. Johns on any weekend during the summer as all the sailboats slice through the water like streamlined insects. Watch as the boaters in the lakes waterski and shoot wide swaths of wake and foam from the cut of their jet ski. Jacksonville loves its watersports.

As the summer heated up, EU decided to go get wet. We sent writers out to find out about some of this town’s favorite aquatic activities. From SCUBA diving to fishing to boating, we looked into the ways our town gets into water and came back more educated, a little sunburnt, and all wet.
