Lost Planet is one of those above-average shooter games that gets lost in a sea of great games. Sure, many people are talking about it in the gaming media, but for the most part people are still stuck on Gears of War. Gears of War is great, don’t get me wrong, but there is something really great in Lost Planet that you really should experience for yourself. In addition to the single-player modes, Lost Planet has a great multiplayer game that really is a lot of fun to play over Xbox Live. Although the game tends to slow down in the later levels, Lost Planet has some really entertaining moments, and is certainly worth a rental.
If you have ever played the Game Boy Advance version of Wario Ware, you’ll know to expect plenty of short, action filled, zany mini-games designed to entertain, frustrate, and totally get you addicted. Well, the Wii Sequel of Wario Ware is no different, as this game will have you more cracked out than Whitney in a mug shot. In this version, your goal is to complete as many ‘microgames’ as possible within the allotted time, by performing various tasks using the Wii remote. For example, one game will have you holding the remote in an ‘umbrella form’, as if you were holding an umbrella. Similar tasks involve you holding the remote at your waist while emulating a hula-hoop motion. All in all, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves will surely be the life of more than a few parties around town, so do yourself a favor if you have a Wii and a bunch of friends: pick this game up.
Shortly, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection will be available to download via the Playstation Store through your PS3. Some people may ask why this version would be worth their time, as the original Tekken 5 is available for the PS2 for around 20 bucks. Well, I have a few reasons. First off, this game runs in High Def. While the PS2 version looks great, the PS3 port of this arcade game (which is an arcade perfect translation, as far as I can tell) looks amazing on a big HD display. Not that any of the graphics are updated from the arcade version of DR, but you can really tell the difference in the hardware pushing it. The next thing I should mention is the new stuff that isn’t in Tekken 5. There is the issue of balance, where you won’t see Steve Fox owning everyone for free. There are also new characters, which really do add to the moody feel of the game. These characters include Sergei Dragunov, a Russian SPETZNAZ operative, Lili, a ballet-dancing street fighter, and Armor King, returning from days of Tekken past.
Another update comes in the form of graphical and audio presentation, with newly redesigned stages and graphics for each character, in addition to new voiceovers that aren’t quite so corny as they have been in previous iterations.
For about 20 bucks, I’d certainly say this download will be worth it when it becomes available. How do I know? Well, you could say I was lucky enough to get my hands on an import copy.
